ASSHAT of the Week

This recipient of The ASSHAT of the Week award isn't a man or a woman per say, but a group of men and woman. This group is comprised of my soon to be former landlord/employees at Country Lakes apartments. The award is given to them for their lack of caring, effort, service request response, specific rule violations being overlooked and overall terrible customer service when it comes to being their tenants.

First of all the management team is comprised of condescending, lying and lazy personnel. Whenever called upon for service or help with issues you always receive the response "We'll have someone right over" or "Your issue will be resolved quickly." For instance, we had an issue with water/water damage from another tenants neglect. The issue was called upon for service which we were told that would be resolved quickly. After two weeks and not until us getting angry was the issue resolved. They even went as far as closing the service request before anything had been done. The complex has an online tool to schedule/request service, which you would think would be ultra convenient both for the tenant and the complex. Especially when it comes to issues that are not deemed emergency repairs. Well using this tool is a complete joke. Out of the 5 or so requests put in using this tool all of them were marked closed before actually being fixed. Once again these issues were not resolved until a email was sent to their corporate office. One request has still never been looked at even with a face to face promise given by the head of maintenance to me.

The on-call service is a joke to say the least. When we had a water/leaking issue for the second day in a row. My wife called the office to inform them which she was told someone would be their shortly. As usual no one showed up so my wife called again. Now the office was closed and her call was forwarded to an answering service that passes along the messages to the on-call service man on duty. After several calls to the answering service (at least ten) a call was never received back until 10:14 PM that evening. Take into the fact that our first call to the office was just after 5:00 PM, when we were told it would be looked at shortly. When the call came in we were already asleep. During one of the many calls into the answering service, one of the operators that took one of the messages also grew concerned telling my wife anything dealing with "water" was supposedly to be looked at immediately.

It took the complex management almost half this summer to get it's swimming pool policies rules and regulations strictly enforced. The beginning of the summer has been an absolute joke for most paying residents here at Country Lakes. With anybody and everybody allowed in and to do pretty much whatever they please. Which includes inconsiderate adults sitting on the entry stairs making it impossible for kids to use them and jumping in almost to landing on very small children. During one visit to the swimming pool with our two kids my wife and I counted 75+ people in the pool at one time. This many people would seem like too many in an Olympic sized pool which this pool is far from. I can just imagine all the pee in the pool thst day. Absolutely disgusting.

Dogs are allowed at the complex which is fine with me, because I am a dog lover. But in the rules and even the leases their are specific rules against housing certain breeds of dogs. You probably know most of them, Rottweiler, Dobermans, Pitbulls, Pitbull mixes, American Staffordshire Terrier and so on. Well, their are more than a few of these breeds of dogs that reside in buildings here at Country Lakes. To me it really doesn't matter, because it's the owner that makes the dog. If the owner is responsible then so will the dog. Rules are rules though, if you have them and have people sign something to that fact then they should be enforced. By the way you may also want to more strictly enforce your pet waste property, because there is crap EVERYWHERE!

Lastly, to my neighbors which all in all are really nice. Besides the fact that I think the guy living directly above us is a serial killer (just joking, but he is weird!) I only have a few complaints; 1) Stop letting the damn doors slam. Whether it be the door to your apartment or the entrance door. There is nothing more annoying then slamming doors. 2) Don't leave garbage out in the hallway, even for a little bit. The aroma gets around quick, take it out to the trash. You could use the exercise 3) If you drop something outside the entrance door, i.e. a fast food soda or a creamy ice cream treat. Clean it up right after it happens. Not only is it lazy, but also unsightly and I've been the one cleaning up after you. Again you could use the exercise.

When the lease is up and we're all moved out we won't be sad to go, but I am proud to award you with The ASSHAT of the Week.
